First OB-Gyn Visit

Had my first OB-Gyn visit this morning - new doctor's office and I have to say I'm very excited. They seemed very professional, very organized and very clean!!
Here's their website: http://www.matlockobgyn.com.

I was there at 8.30 am, they shooed me in, got my urine sample, weight, and then by 9 am I was talking to the nurse (which was who I would see for a first visit). OMG talk about paperwork. *LOL* but she was good and patient with my questions.

Then I went back to the lab (they have their own inhouse lab to draw samples) and had blood taken - ** 5 vials !! ** - and made my appointments for the first sonargram and doc visit. I nearly made my appointment on the day I fly back to Malaysia - that would have been bad. Oops.

The doc's office is HUGE - they had 3 different waiting area; the reception area when you came in, a Waiting Area A and a Waiting Area B. Then there's the lab and the check-out counter, separate from the reception area.

Baby Steps

Jas and I have had talks, discussions, decision, ect between the two of us over the last week. Being the most important event to enter our lives recently, seems that the majority of our conversation now surrounds this topic.
It just doesn't feel that it has truly sunk in yet. Jas isn't showing yet, nothing in our household has really changed so far. We haven't started shopping for clothes or furniture. Really we have just been discussing ideas, making plans. Or oddly enough making lists of things we need to plan and do. Preparing.
I'm afraid of letting myself get too washed up into the event without some kind of tangible proof that this is for real. Nevermind the 4 home pregnancy test and laboratory blood test. Nuh uh. Not those. They don't give me anything I can wrap my mind around. There is nothing about thier output that just screams !BABY! And I am already so emotionally involved in this that I'm just soooo afraid of something taking it away from me.
The end of the first trimester is a milestone. Jas will start to show a little and the biggest statistical hurdle will be behind us. And after that...the ultrasound. Tangible proof. A fuzzy black & white picture. Here. Here's your baby. Not, this is not from a tape. That's your wifes tummy and your baby.
That I can get my head around.

Changes so far..

I've lost about 10 lbs in about a week and a half .. maybe that should have been an indication that I was in the mommy way :P.

Also did you know that part of the reason expecting mothers "glow" is because they have increased blood flow? So their cheeks tend to look rosier ie healthier.

And my hair is looking awesome I must say - the prenatal vitamins apparently improve your hair and nails.

To my Piglet....

I think of you lying in my belly and I call you my Piglet because if we're assuming correctly, you'll be born January 2008, which will still be the year of the Pig. We're hoping for a girl and Piglet just seems to fit just fine, even though the Disney Piglet is a boy. I'm hoping you're a girl. Then I can teach you to stand up to boys and that a girl can do anything a boy can do.

If you turn out to be a boy, I'll start calling you my Boar-let. :P That is your daddy's idea. I don't mind if you're a boy either, then I can teach you to be true and honest, and to treat girls right.

Your Dad has already decided that he's going to be my personal chef and has come up with all sorts of menu options - steamed rice....vegetables... oh boy. I better makes sure he throws in a cheese burger once in a while.

It has only been a week since we found out about you, and I already think of you as a person, instead of the little bean size dude/dudette that you are. I can't wait to see you :).

Love your Mummy.

Finally got the call from the doc with my hcg quantitative test results - she says I'm between 6 -8 weeks.

This is where my Baby is at right now:

Month 2 (6-10 weeks)
The embryo is now 1 1/8 inch by 8 weeks. The heart is beating and functioning. The eyes, nose, and teeth buds are formed and the embryo starts to move it’s arms and legs. Organs (spinal cord, stomach, liver, kidneys, etc) are quickly developing in structure. An ultrasound performed at this time can see the embryo.

A picture is worth a thousand words...
